By education I'm a biologist, having PhD in Entomology (systematics). I formerly worked at Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences in St.Petersburg. My hobby are computer's, particularly programming languages and during the last few years I am running a personal website as a home project: www.salicicola.com Almost entirely it's XML based, i.e., even most of the static pages were generated from XML data files by scripts written in XSLT. The largest part of this website is 'Eastern Massachusetts Vascular Plants Gallery'. Web replica of this database (in XML) contains about 6,000 images of 850 plant species but its main replica contains three times more photos. I'm also an author of nearly all of these photographs.
