TDWG is the abbreviation for the Taxonomic Database Working Group, nowadays called Biodiversity Information Standards. It is a not for profit scientific and educational association that is affiliated with the International Union of Biological Sciences. TDWG was formed to establish international collaboration among biological database projects. It promotes wider and more effective dissemination of information about biological organisms by focusing on the development of standards for the exchange of biological/biodiversity data. Wouter Addink (ETI BioInformatics) has been active in TDWG since 2002. He will join the TDWG meeting in Fremantle (Perth), Australia, 19-25 October 2008. The discussion on identification data standards developed in K2N in relation to work done in EoL and ALA are very relevant to TDWG and the biological community.
