Origin: S. Scandinavia
Description: Tree up to 14m with a dense, conical crown. Leaves alternate, the lower part of the blade pinnately divided into 1 to 2 pairs of leaflets, the upper part lobed and toothed but not divided into separate leaflets, matt green above, grey-white woolly beneath. Flowers numerous, in branched clusters, each flower 1cm or more across; petals white, hairy on the inner surface. Ripe fruits 10-12mm diameter, globose, scarlet.
Comments: Also called bastard service-tree, this is a natural hybrid between rowan and a species of whitebeam.
