Multimedia Resource Task group (MURTAG) meeting with EoL

Dr. Gregor Hagedorn (JKI) will represent KeyToNature in the next meeting of the Multimedia Resource Task Group (MURTAG, an advisory group of GBIF). The MURTAG group will meet with representatives of the Encyclopedia of Life (EoL) at Woods Hole, Massachusetts, USA.

Results:

The main purpose of the meeting was the ongoing development of the Resource Metadata Exchange Agreement which was originally drafted as an EU deliverable of the Key to Nature project, and which forms now the basis of an international standardization effort. As a result, the deliverable is undergoing ongoing changes. The two days of intensive working at Woods Hole provided significant progress, so that the revised version of the agreement forms a more reliable and stable grounds to build our metadata indexing efforts upon.

In parallel with the main MRTG meeting, several talks with EoL were held. EoL is interested in Wiki and community based developments, but is developing its own Drupal based software. They are open for alternatives, but no immediate action was available.
