Festival des sciences [R]évolutions: à la découverte des arbres et arbustes de la cour de l' École Normale Supérieure, Paris
A new mini-interactive guide to the woody plants of the garden of the École Normale Supérieure of Paris has been created to be showcased at the ‘Festival des Sciences [R]évolutions. The Festival took place from 22 to 25 July 2009.
The festival, organized annually by the 'Association Paris-Montagne, tries to bring close to the general public the world of scientific research.
Every year, the Association addressed young people from disadvantaged backgrounds struggling against the self-exclusion from long-term studies in universities or colleges. The Association offers individual support with a program of full immersion in the laboratories of Academic Science and acts locally to generate collective dynamics in secondary schools of socially deprived areas.
The Association Paris-Montagne also tries to encourage a renewal of the district of Sainte-Geneviève by giving it visibility and coherence as an urban district of knowledge open to everyone, inviting the inhabitants of Paris and the Ile de France to take more interest in science and to participate in scientific advancement. The project focused on identification of plants is aimed at young people aged between 9 and 18 years. For the Festival, the Association organised a 'treasure hunt' basedon the KeyToNature tool.
