EOL meeting on Parmeliaceae

Project Encyclopedy of Life (EOL) organized a meeting "Parmeliaceae - improving our understanding of taxonomy, classification and biogeography of the largest family of lichen-forming fungi" in Chicago on May 13-16, 2010. Ca 40 lichenologists from all continents (except Antarctica) participated in this event in the Field Museum of Chicago. Andres Saag & Tiina Randlane (University of Tartu) gave a lecture "User-friendly keys on the Internet" on May 15. A new application of Estonian epiphytic macrolichens for the Android operating system of smart phones (prepared by an Estonian hardware developer Marko Peterson) was introduced among other items, and received enthusiastic feedback.
